Hawaii: In Real Life ~ Simply Organized Wednesday, June 6, 2012 By Melissa Chang
Simply Organized recently opened at Kahala Mall, much to the delight of townies who love (or need) to clean, but weren’t too keen on driving out to Kapolei to shop for cool organization products.
As my OCD friends, Muriel Taira and Jennifer Lieu can tell you, I need to organize. Constantly. My piles of paperwork and pure crap grow like weeds, and little items get lost in the process. A store like Simply Organized would help, but I’m the type to go crazy buying a lot of stuff there that (maybe) I don’t need. What to do?
Luckily, I recently met professional organizer Nancy Nino of Aloha Organizers , who assured me that getting my life together doesn’t take a lot of effort, if I develop the right mindset. She demonstrated a bit of this with a “junk drawer” to show me how to systematically sort, purge, assign homes to items, and then containerize.
We then went to another part of the store to look at some of Nancy’s favorite organizing products and talk about how they can be used. Visit HawaiiIRL.com to see more. After these video segments, I did shop for organizing containers and was able to find items that fit my lifestyle. Now, we’ll see if I can really contain my mess!
